Basically, $19.81 is $1,000 dollars divided by 52.

The $1,000 dollars is all we need to build a 'match' between a Big Brother or Sister and his or her "Little" for one year. (See Forbes to right).

The "52" is the number of weeks in a year - the opportunities a Big Brother or Sister has to meet with his or her "Little."

We ask people for "one week of support" - just $19.81*. The special donors who provide it, we call "Big Bennys!"

*Okay, so you did the math and know that 1000 divided by 52 is 19.23. But 1981 was the year Big Brothers Big Sisters came to Rochester. It was just too good to resist so we went with $19.81.
