Eh... I suppose a little more turkey gravy for the attitude is never a bad thing. That's what this quick read offers. But, I'm not sure I'd recommend you spend even that small amount of time with this book. It's a nice-enough offering from an author who has produced what I think are some really terrific works (306-Degree Leader). But if you're serious about making some changes in the way you deal with life... get Stephen Covey's "7 Habits of Highly Effective People." You can easily pick up the stuff "The Difference Maker" offers in the tangents and anecdotes contained in most good books on leadership, management or personal growth. There's no need to buy and read them skimmed off and recycled here.
In fairness, this book does do a nice job of placing attitude in perspective.. asserting that it is NOT 'everything'.. but is, instead, a weight that can be added to the positive or negative side of any endeavor. Thus the more weight our attitude has, the more likely it will 'tip the scales' in our favor if applied to the positive side of any aspect of life. Maxwell also does a thoughtful job of outlining five obstacles to a great attitude: discouragement, change, problems, fear and failure, and spends time giving perspective and counsel on dealing with each.
(...get 7 Habits instead). |
