For Bigs...

Open House Participation | Schedule

Each three hour open house is made of three one-hour segments:

Hour 1- Big Magic: for those interested in volunteering with the kids
Hour 2 - Behind the Magic: gives general information about BBBS
Hour 3 - Crafting a Century: is used for Century League agendas

Each is hosted by a number of people currently involved with the agency:

Two Big/Little Matches
One Century League member or Board member ("Leadership Volunteer")
The Executive Director, who runs the sessions

Let's look at the activity of each as the open house progresses. Time marks are provided for both the Saturday and Thursday itinerary.

Saturdays	Thursdays	Flow of Events
BIG MAGIC - Orientation for Big Candidates (Starts 9AM Saturdays and 5:30PM Thursdays)
8:45 AM	5:15 PM	Bigs, Littles and Leadership Volunteer are in place ready for the arrival of persons interested in becoming Bigs.
		Coached and assisted by the Bigs *as much as needed* Littles greets each guest "Thank you for coming, may I take your coat" Littles find each persons information sheet and asks them to complete any highlighted portions during the orientation Littles then points person down the hall where the Leadership Volunteer is waiting outside the conference room
		The Leadership Volunteer greets the person, and if time allows points out the hallway picture tour that highlights interesting aspects of the agency, and then directs them into the conference room when the session is about to begin
9:10 AM	5:40 PM	"Big Magic" Session begins. Most people will have arrived. There won't be much to do for about 30 minutes. Bigs, Littles and Leadership Volunteer are invited to use the lobby or Jeff's office to hang out and get to know each other.
9:40 AM	6:10 PM	Jeff will come and get one Big and Little to meet the orientees and perhaps share a very quick easy story. Really simple stuff - like what you did last week. People may ask a couple questions. Just being there is HUGE.
BEHIND THE MAGIC - Introducing potential supporters (Starts 10AM Saturdays and 6:30PM Thursdays)
9:50 AM	6:20 PM	Everyone is in place for the next group while Jeff finishes up with the BIG candidates in the conference room.
		This second group is coming to learn about supporting the agency. Repeat same introduction process.
10:10 AM	6:40 PM	Once it seems everyone has arrived, Matches are free to leave - but stop by the conference room and say goodbye - guests will be truly appreciative and your interruption is worth more than anything Jeff will be saying. (and this is Jeff typing this).
		Leadership Volunteer stays and joins the "Behind the Magic" session. You will likely have guests in there, or be meeting the guests of other Leadership Volunteers.
CRAFTING A CENTURY - Building a Century of Mentoring (Starts 11AM Saturdays and 7:30PM Thursdays)
11:00 AM	7:30 PM	Other members of the Century League arrive. No special greeting - this is the 'home team.' This one hour session is dedicated to one of the following: Jeff's boiled down review of a recent work on vision, persistence, leadership, business or related topics - PLUS, you get the book for FREE! (See leadership library [new window]). Impact Mapping - a personal assessment of the groups and individuals in your circle of influence, their areas of abundance, passion and self-interest. You will create a relationship resource map (that you keep) and which will be useful to you personally, in business, or in service to BBBS. Thank-o-thon - spend one hour pounding out thank you calls to people who have hit important milestones as Bigs, or made important recent contributions.
