Question: What is a "Community" Match

  • Community matches are the traditional relationship you think of when you think about Big Brothers Big Sisters. An adult from the community (a "Big") is matched with a child from the community (a "Little") and activities take place at the initiative of the "Big" out in the community. They go to the park, ride bikes, go to a museum, etc.

Question: What is a "School-based" Match

  • Our school-based matches occur as partnerships between an elementary school and a highschool. Highschool students are matched as "Bigs" with children from the elementary school ("Littles") and interact one-to-one and in groups as part of weekly sessions provided and supervised by Big Brothers Big Sisters staff.

Question: What is an "Adult Site-based " Match

  • An example of an Adult Site-based match would be an employee from a local company (a "Big") being granted an extra long lunch break once a week to join his or her "Little" at school as a "Lunch-time Buddy" or some other planned event provided and supervised by Big Brothers Big Sisters staff.
