Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Rochester
Names New Executive Director

ROCHESTER, NY - October 20, 2004 - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Rochester, Community Partners for Youth, Inc. (BBBSGR), one of the largest and most effective youth mentoring organization in the country, today announced it has named Jeffrey M. Newland as Executive Director. With a strong background in communications and planning, Newland will oversee all day-to-day operations of the agency, including long-range planning, fund development, community partnerships and marketing communications.

Newland comes to BBBSGR after six years with Unisys Corporation, (NYSE: UIS), an information technology services company, where he was responsible for enhancing the quality and profitability of a $2 million partnership with the NYS Office for Technology. Key to that partnership was support of the CONNECTIONS program - the NYS child endangerment tracking mechanism. In addition, Newland and his wife share the role of Live-In Resident Manager at the Rochester Ronald McDonald House. Throughout his eight years at the Ronald McDonald House, he worked with the Board of Directors in various roles, including Strategic Planning and Internet Marketing.

"We are thrilled to welcome Jeff to our "big" family. Jeff's strengths in finance, communication and planning are key to the continued success of our agency," said BBBSGR President Kirsten J. Huff. "We were very deliberate in our search and selection and Jeff's passion and commitment are precisely what we need to lead and manage the agency."

State Senator Joe Robach, in a recent press conference said "I'm honored and proud to be associated with Big Brothers Big Sisters. Despite all of the challenges the kids in this community face, nearly 100% of the kids in this program avoid substance abuse and do well in school. I wish Jeff well as the new executive director."

Added Newland, "If you've looked into the face of a child, you understand the importance of our mission.
In my career, I have experienced the generosity of the people of Monroe, Ontario, Wayne, Livingston and Yates Counties. Combined, I know that this great family of communities will compel us to reach our goal to double. To provide 1000 great kids with a Big Brother or a Big Sister by 2007 - And double that by 2010"

Prior to Unisys, Newland was Vice President of Sales for Primerica Financial Services and earlier in his career was a Licensed Litigation Attorney for a general practice law firm in New York State. Newland spent three years as a paratrooper in the United States Army, he is a cum laude graduate of State University of New York at Geneseo and he holds a Doctorate in Law from Union University.
