Ultimate Frisbee players never know when to stop. This high-speed outdoor sport, a combination of soccer, football, and basketball, is usually played when the temperature is above freezing. But on Friday, January 12, 2007 an Ultimate Frisbee tournament was played on indoor soccer fields at the Rochester Sports Garden, 1460 East Henrietta Road, 9:00pm-1:30am.
Women and men from Rochester and as far away as New York City registered for the Late-Night Bandanna Benefit Tournament. Players signed up as individuals and were placed on teams the night of the tournament. Teams were identified by the wearing of bandanna headbands. Player fees covered expenses of field rental, bandannas and food with $500 donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rochester.
This charity event was in the spirit of Ultimate and the spirit of Rochester. For more information about this great sport in our city, visit the Greater Rochester Area Disc Association web site: www.GRADA.org |
